We’re incredibly excited to congratulate all the talented trainers who are part of the Trainer Incentive Program on placing a record-breaking number of gentled mustangs and burros in April! Over the past month, TIP trainers placed 452 animals into private care, surpassing the previously held monthly record by more than 100 animals.
This achievement evidences the hours of dedication TIP trainers have committed to gentling and finding homes for mustangs and burros. We applaud all the TIP trainers who made this remarkable achievement possible and look forward to celebrating even greater successes in the future.
Since the program’s inception in 2007, TIP trainers have facilitated placement of more than 14,000 gentled mustangs and burros, playing a crucial role in MHF’s annual goals of placing more animals into private care. MHF supports TIP trainers in 40 states across America by compensating them for each animal gentled and placed through adoption. In return, TIP trainers help MHF fulfill its mission of facilitating successful placements outside of holding for America’s excess wild horses and burros.
Established in 2001, MHF has connected nearly 10,000 adopters and purchasers with more than 16,000 mustangs and burros previously in BLM holding facilities. Through a long-standing partnership with BLM’s Wild Horse & Burro Program, MHF creates, implements, and improves programs like TIP and events like the Extreme Mustang Makeover, where participants are given approximately 100 days to train a wild horse before they compete. These outreach opportunities aim to increase awareness of the issues faced by America’s wild horse and burro population and decrease the number of animals in BLM holding facilities.
