DEVON O’DAY
Devon O’Day is a career broadcaster known for local, regional and nationally syndicated radio since 1976. As a songwriter, she has had songs recorded by Hank Williams, Jr, Pam Tillis, Lee Ann Womack, and many more including a number one for George Strait. Currently on staff for Main Street Media of Tennessee, Devon writes for 14 different publications and streams a daily show called Main Street Today, a weekly show called Devon’s Table, and a monthly show called Taste of Nashville. As a professional corporate speaker and emcee, she has been at the podium for local and national charities and companies for over 30 years.
In her personal life, she owns Angel Horse Farm, a small sanctuary in Lebanon, TN, that homes senior equines and special needs livestock including a blind steer, a pig who hates pigs, and several old goats as well as the more typical dogs and cats. Her love of horses started in childhood with Walter Farley books and her first horse, an old farm gelding that did as well with cattle as he did in the hunting woods. She became a spokesperson for the Tennessee Walker Breeders and Exhibitors Association for the ethical treatment of her beloved Tennessee Walking Horse. Her preference has been trail riding, but she has also been in the show ring with flat shod plantation Spotted Saddle horses with lots of blue ribbons to show for it. Devon also has been a horse show announcer for several exhibition shows and celebrity events throughout the years with Tennessee Walkers, rodeo stock, Arabian horses, mustang events, and even mini-horse and racking mule shows.
Working for the preservation and care of all equines has been a life-calling for Devon as she uses her strong social media platform to get others to understand the importance of responsible ownership, care, and breeding of all horses. She is a flagship writer for Guidepost Magazine’s All God’s Creatures Devotion books and magazine with horses being a constant theme. She has four horses of her own and has private clients that visit Angel Horse for therapy, as we all know that riding a horse is only part of the healing power they possess.
Devon has written several books including My Angels Wear Fur, which began with her story of Maria, an old walking horse that she credits as being her life-saver. The American wild horse is a symbol of many things; endurance, persistence, and survival. All of those things are why Devon was brought to tears at the thought of being part of the board that works to get these beautiful creatures adopted and cared for as well as the stewardship of those in need across our country. Media, marketing and storytelling and a lifetime of horse love are what she brings to the table.
