Trail Riding Program
The Mustang Heritage Foundation Trail Riding Program recognizes the quality time spent between mustang and burro owners and their animals while enjoying the trails.
We have elevated our program to include the use of the Equilab app for a more streamlined and efficient tracking process!
Using the Equilab app ensures a smoother experience for tracking trail hours (eliminating the need for manual log sheets) and allows members to participate in mustang group challenges, connect with friends, and enjoy other app features like safety tracking and more!
Memberships:
- Owners and riders must be MHF members in good standing for hours to be considered.
- Riders can sign-up for the Equilab app; MHF members get their first 6 months FREE for a Premium account and then enjoy a discounted rate after.
Trail Program registration:
- MHF members can register mustangs/burros for $25/each.
- MHF members may register any number of mustangs/burros annually (renewing Oct. 1) and earn rewards for each.
- Program members will be invited to join the MHF Trail Program Group on Equilab to connect, interact, and share experiences!
activity tracking:
Start using the Equilab app to track your activities & export your data to submit hours.
- All riding/packing/hiking must be done on trails. These hours do not have to be completed at sanctioned events. Arena riding and lesson hours are not eligible.
- Use the Equilab app to track your trail hours. Submit any exported GPS tracking data to MHF (other verified tracking apps will also be accepted). Remember, MHF members get their first 6 months FREE for a Premium account and then enjoy a discounted rate after.
- Ride length is determined by time in half-hour increments after the first hour.
- Trail hours are “evergreen”, meaning hours will be accrued and awarded at an accumulated total over time.

50 hours – Jacket Patch
100 hours – Chevron Bar and MHF Trail Riding T-Shirt
250 hours – Chevron Bar and MHF Hat
500 hours – Chevron Bar and MHF Lead Rope
1,000 hours– Chevron Bar and MHF Jacket
1,500 hours– Chevron Bar and MHF Horn Bag
2,000 hours– Chevron Bar and MHF Saddle Pad

Please click on the link below to pay for your mustang’s/burro’s registration. Please be sure to add your mustang’s/burro’s name in the “Dedicate this Gift” field.
Then register below, and/or email any forms to trails@mustangheritagefoundation.org along with a photo of your mustang/burro.
Once you submit your registration, you will receive a email with a registration number and/or a message stating the next steps, including the Equilab discount codes & group invite.
